The fleet of electric vehicles is growing - In the first two months of the year, over 1,700 were registered

The electric vehicle fleet in the country is growing. This is also evidenced by data showing an interest on the part of citizens in environmentally friendly vehicles. According to the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, during the period January-February 2026, 1,712 electric vehicles were registered for the first time, marking an increase of 151% compared to the same period in 2025. The increase of 151% refers to the total number of registered electric vehicles, which means that they have doubled compared to the previous year.
On the other hand, another important indicator is the weight that these vehicles occupy in the market. According to data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, during the first 2 months of 2026, All-Electric vehicles account for 51.6% of new registrations with zero kilometers. So, more than half of the new cars registered are electric. This represents an increase of about 50% of the total occupied by new vehicles compared to the same period in 2025. These developments are considered an important step towards a greener, more efficient road fleet in line with the objectives of environmental protection and pollution reduction.
At the same time, the standard of the fleet is also improving. According to the data, 80.6% of new vehicles registered during this period belong to the Euro 5 category and above, marking an increase of 13% compared to the previous year. This shows that even non-electric vehicles are gradually becoming cleaner and less polluting.
This positive trend indicates the growing awareness of citizens about the benefits offered by the use of electric vehicles, such as reduced air pollution, reduced carbon emissions, and lower maintenance costs.
The addition of "green" vehicles to the country's roads is considered an important step towards a cleaner, more efficient and more sustainable transportation system, in line with environmental objectives and green development policies.
