Cannabis in Albania is spread across 10 cadastral zones - Korça and Myzeqeja are excluded, what are the criteria for cultivation?
The government has approved the cadastral zones in which the cultivation of the cannabis plant for industrial purposes is permitted. The decision, which paves the way for the cultivation of cannabis, defines 10 cadastral zones where this activity will take place, while Korça and Myzeqeja will be excluded.
"There are 10 Cadastral zones that have been determined based on the study and are well defined, and at the same time in all the coordination of actions, I believe that all the guidelines will best determine how the process will proceed. They are all over Albania, but there is a necessary criterion, all areas with high agricultural intensity are excluded. They are agricultural areas that are out of the attention of the current development of intensive agriculture, and with a distance from schools, inhabited areas, and almost 3 kilometers in distance where beekeeping is currently carried out ," said Denaj.
The cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes will have strict control conditions. To guide and control the process, the law provides for the creation of the National Cannabis Control Agency.
The license will be granted for one or more activities, for a period of 15 years, with the right to renewal. To obtain the license, competitors must have at least 3 years of experience in this field, have a company capital of not less than 100 million lek, etc.
The National Cannabis Control Agency will be established within 3 months of the entry into force of this law. In total, the area expected to be cultivated nationwide will be 200 hectares.
