How to benefit from direct payments in agriculture? - New criteria/ Groups of favored farmers
Farmers will soon have the opportunity to apply for direct payments from the 2025 subsidy scheme. The government decision sets out new criteria, which through several measures will support increased competitiveness of the agricultural sector and reduced costs for farmers.
Specifically, direct payments will be provided for cattle, in the amount of up to 10 thousand lek/head of cow/heifer and up to 5 thousand lek/head of calf per farmer/applicant, with no less than 10 heads of cattle.
1,200 lek lek/head for smallholders, for applicants with no less than 100 heads of sheep and/or goats. As for beekeeping, 1,000 lek per hive will be given to farmer/applicant, with no less than 50 hives.
200 thousand lek per hectare for the cultivation of vegetables, table grapes in greenhouses and/or strawberries in plastic tunnels per farmer/applicant, with a planted area of no less than 1 (one) ha.
In any case, if the benefit amount is halved for exceeding the established limit, for farmers' associations, payments will be provided at the rate of 100%.
Farmers who use biological control of vegetable pests (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, strawberries) benefit from an additional payment. The amount of the benefit is 50% of the total value of tax invoices for the purchase of biological materials, including beneficial insects, but not more than 30 thousand lek per dunyam, in the case of two plantings per year.
The payment for the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants is 30 thousand lek/ha per farmer/applicant, with a planted area of no less than 1 (one) ha and 100-200 thousand lek for organic farms.
According to the decision, farmers will benefit from cash payments for the oil they use for mechanized agricultural work. The criteria that farmers must meet to benefit from the oil scheme are to have agricultural land in ownership and/or use, proven with the relevant documentation; The total area for which the application is applied must be no less than 1 ha, while the size of the plots, with an area of no less than 0.1 ha. The application to benefit from the oil support measure for agriculture is made by self-declaration.
Farmers benefit up to 100% of the value, with an area of up to 10 ha, according to the calculations made. For areas over 10 ha, the benefit amount is reduced by 50%, excluding cases of applicants with the status of "Group of farmers" or "SHBB". Applications are subject to the process of administrative verification/control and for winning applications, a field control is carried out.
