JET Bank, the newest entity in the financial market, the Bank of Albania gives its approval

A new fully digital operator is added to the Albanian banking market. “At the meeting of December 3, 2025, the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania considered and decided: On granting preliminary approval for the licensing of the bank “JET Bank”. Based on this decision, the Supervisory Council decided to grant preliminary approval for the licensing of the bank “JET Bank” (Phase I), to carry out banking and financial activities in the Republic of Albania. JET Bank aims to be the first bank in Albania to operate in a fully digital manner, combining advanced technology with a simple, secure and customer-centric model. Its mission is to introduce a new financial service model, different from traditional banking models”, states the announcement made by the Bank of Albania.
The bank's shareholder structure has not been made public, but according to information, it involves investors from Israel.
According to the law "On Banks in the Republic of Albania", the licensing of a bank and a branch of a foreign bank goes through two stages: preliminary approval of the license and the granting of the license.
The law provides that the branch of a foreign bank that has received prior approval for a license must, within 12 months, meet all the conditions provided for in the law "On Banks in the Republic of Albania" and the by-laws implementing it, in order to be issued with a license to commence banking activity in our country.
JET Bank is the second entity to receive prior approval from the Bank of Albania to enter the banking market, after the Turkish bank Ziraat. The number of operators in the banking market is now expected to reach 13.
