January 2025, tax revenues 5.4 million lek more than planned - Taxes: Positive performance, 15% more revenue than a year ago
January of this year has been successful for the General Directorate of Taxes. Referring to the latest data, the General Directorate of Taxes announces that the total revenues for January were estimated at 43 million lek gross. Meanwhile, January of last year was estimated at 37 million lek gross.
According to Taxes, this positive and progressive performance has translated into 5.4 million lek more compared to the same period last year, or 15% more.
We recall that in the last months of the year we just left behind, the Albanian government focused on the anti-informality campaign to punish enterprises that underdeclared employees' salaries. Thus, in continuation of the action against underdeclaration of salaries, the Tax Investigation Directorate has referred to the Prosecutor's Office 2 subjects, suspected of having committed the criminal offense of "Hiding Income".
The subjects under investigation belong to the construction sector and operate in the Tirana region. The evidence collected for these subjects raises reasonable doubts about the existence of two payrolls used by these companies, one of which is deposited with the tax authorities and the other, which is a reflection of the real situation, is kept by the subjects. The analysis conducted showed that the informality of salaries was over 50%.
