'National Tourism Strategy 2030'/ 6.7 billion euros in tourism revenue. Here are the 6 big priorities!
The Albanian government has announced its ambition that by 2030, revenues from the tourism sector in Albania will reach around 6.7 billion euros, an increase of nearly 50 percent compared to what the sector brought in in 2024.
In the document "National Tourism Strategy 2030", approved a few days ago by the Council of Ministers, six basic priorities have been set for this sector, among the most important in the economy. The priorities in the next 5 years will be:
-Investments in the tourism and transport sector
-Better adaptation of fiscal and regulatory policies
-Good management of the country's tourist destinations
-Further development of the tourism product that Albania offers
The most appropriate marketing for these destinations as well as the increase of tourism capacities and the development of human resources in this sector.
Aiming to consolidate the Albanian tourism offer, a new regional division has been made in the new strategy, defining as separate areas: the Adriatic Coast Region, the Northern Inland Region, the Tirana Tourist Region, the Central Tourist Region, the Ionian Coast Region and the Southern Inland Region.
In terms of numbers, the strategy predicts that the country will have over 477 thousand beds in 2030, compared to 270 thousand beds in 2023.
Employees in the sector are planned to exceed 73 thousand in 2030, compared to 42 thousand employees in tourism in 2023. Tax revenues are expected to be over 85 million euros, or four times more than in 2023. The entire sector is planned to have a business turnover of 6.7 billion euros, compared to 4.16 billion euros in 2023.
The government's ambitions for tourism and marketing in recent years have made this sector one of the most important in the country's economy.
