Ibrahimaj presents Albania's progress in Brussels on "Smart

The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, participated in the high-level roundtable on "Smart Specialisation processes in the Western Balkans: key achievements and experiences", which is taking place in Brussels with the participation of the European Commission and ministers from the Western Balkan countries, where she presented the main achievements and strategic directions of this process in Albania, which is essential for approaching the European single market.

The Minister emphasized that "Smart Specialization processes" is a national reform based on data and consulted with academics, business, institutions and civil society, where sectors where our country has competitive advantages have been identified, such as sustainable tourism, food processing and organic agriculture, ICT technology and services, as well as raw material processing.

In her speech, Minister Ibrahimaj emphasized that Albania is now fully aligned with European guidelines, with 75% of investments focused on the green and digital transition. “Albania is advancing with concrete projects such as the albaniatrails.al platform, the Unified Tourism Data System, the modernization of research laboratories, the development of agrovoltaics, sustainable agriculture and the support of the innovative ecosystem through the Durana Tech Park and the national ACRIS research system,” said Ibrahimaj.

During this meeting, the strong regional dimension of the S3 was also emphasized, where consultations with Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro have identified concrete areas of cooperation in ICT, agri-food, energy and integrated tourism.

The Albanian strategy is supported by a 1.2 billion euro Action Plan, financed by the state budget and the IPA III, Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, IPARD and WBIF programs, turning the "Smart Specialisation processes" into a funded and implementable reform.

Minister Ibrahimaj, in her speech, reconfirmed the Albanian government's commitment to advancing "Smart Specialization processes" as a key instrument for increasing competitiveness, integration into EU value chains and strengthening regional cooperation in the Western Balkans.
