Wheat and corn in a dive, only barley growing - Cereals, near 6-year minimum. We lost an average of 12 thousand tons per year

Grain production in the country has continued to decline in 2025. According to data on the production of field crops, 624 thousand tons of grain were produced last year, down from 649.9 thousand tons in 2024.
Within a year, production has decreased by about 25.9 thousand tons, or 4%. Compared to 2023, when production reached 701.3 thousand tons, the decline is even stronger, by about 77 thousand tons.
Wheat is the main contributor to this decline. In 2025, wheat production fell to 162.6 thousand tons, from 180.8 thousand tons the year before, marking a decline of 10.1%.
This is also the lowest level of wheat production during the period 2020-2025. In 2020, the country produced 233.4 thousand tons of wheat, which means that within five years production has shrunk by more than 30%, or by about 71 thousand tons.
Corn production, which accounts for the largest share of cereal production, also declined. In 2025, 400.5 thousand tons of corn were produced, about 9.9 thousand tons less than in 2024, or a decrease of 2.4%. However, corn production remains almost at the same levels as in 2020.
Barley has moved in the opposite direction. Production increased from 23.8 thousand tons in 2024 to 27 thousand tons in 2025, or by 13.4%. Compared to 2020, barley production has more than doubled.
Rye production increased slightly, from 2.9 to 3.1 thousand tons, while oats fell from 31.9 to 30.8 thousand tons.
The data show that after the highest level recorded in 2023, overall cereal production has entered a downward trajectory, falling in 2025 to the lowest level in the last six years.
