TAP gas pipeline changes shareholders - Swiss buy 5%, new share split among 6

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline has sold non-controlling shares during 2024, changing the shareholder structure. According to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority, Switzerland's Axpo is now part of the shareholders, with 5% of the total.

The Swiss company has bought 4% of the shares from Spain's Enagas, which drops to 16%, and 1% from Belgium's Fluxys, which already owns 19% of the shares. Meanwhile, the shares of Azerbaijan's SOCAR, England's BP and Italy's SNAM remain unchanged at 20% each.

Since the start of operations, TAP has provided continuous transport services at all interconnection points with the national transmission system in Italy and Greece. Meanwhile, from 1 October 2022, also for the Greece - Bulgaria interconnector.

According to data from the ERE, by the end of 2024, TAP has transported a total of 40.47 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas from the Greek-Turkish border to Kipoi, where 33.76 bcm were transported to Italy passing through Albania, 3.9 bcm were exported to Greece and 2.5 bcm were directed to Bulgaria.

According to the Energy Regulatory Authority in the natural gas sector, the year 2024 continued to see dynamic changes related to global natural gas trade, caused in large part by the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

"The development of this war brought an increase in the use of LNG gas in Europe, where a significant part of this gas comes from the USA. In 2024, Europe accounted for 55% of total LNG exports from the USA", - ERE reports.
