Guaranteeing the integrity of the electoral process - General Prosecutor's

The Prosecutor General, Olsian Çela, the Head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, and the State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi signed a Protocol of Coordination and Cooperation.

This protocol aims to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process for the 2025 elections for the Assembly of Albania and provides for coordinated measures to prevent, identify and prosecute criminal offenses related to elections.

The Protocol aims to strengthen cooperation between institutions to ensure a rapid and efficient exchange of information between institutions responsible for prosecuting electoral crimes. The joint commitment of the signatory parties will enable the effective coordination of investigative actions, creating sustainable mechanisms for monitoring and legal prosecution of any case that undermines the electoral process.

Through this cooperation framework, the participating institutions commit to working continuously to strengthen the electoral justice system, ensuring a fair electoral process uninfluenced by external elements. The signing of this protocol aims to increase transparency, strengthen public trust in the electoral process and create an environment where electoral violations are effectively prevented and punished.

Meanwhile, at the last meeting, the government approved the decision "On taking measures and monitoring the activity, behavior or use of human resources of the state administration, during the electoral process for the 2025 general elections."

According to the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption, Adea Pirdeni, starting from March 3, any new recruitment procedures in the state administration will be prohibited during the election period for the general elections on May 11.

Adea Pirdeni:  "The initiated procedures will have to be completed to hire new employees, but no new procedures in the ministry, in subordinate institutions, no new recruitment procedures will be developed. This decision only provides for an exception in exceptional cases of emergencies in areas such as critical infrastructure, health, education or defense."
