Customs-Tax operational plan signed for monitoring the fuel market, duration until June 30

According to a joint announcement by the Ministry of Finance and its two subordinate directorates, Taxes and Customs, the parties have signed a joint operational plan for monitoring the fuel market.
The announcement states that:
"Following the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance to establish a joint Task Force for monitoring the hydrocarbon market, today at the premises of the General Directorate of Customs the first working meeting between the two administrations took place, led by the General Director of Customs, Besmir Beja, and the General Director of Taxes, Ilir Binaj.
At the end of the discussion between experts, the two leaders signed the Operational Plan for the monitoring and control of the storage, use and retail trade of energy products, the document that defines the organization of joint field controls and the coordination mechanisms between the two institutions.
The establishment of this Task Force comes at a time when recent international developments have impacted the hydrocarbon market, making it necessary to monitor prices and the fuel trading chain in the country more closely, with the aim of avoiding abusive increases and protecting the interests of citizens.
As part of this operation, joint control groups from both administrations will conduct verifications on entities that carry out activities in the trade of fuels, checking supply documentation, product origin, compliance of traded quantities and fiscalization of sales.
The controls will extend to the entire territory of the country until June 30, 2026, based on risk analysis and information available from both institutions.
The Director General of Customs, Besmir Beja, stressed the importance of inter-institutional cooperation in ensuring a transparent and orderly hydrocarbon market. “This operational plan creates a joint action mechanism between the customs and tax administrations, enabling us to better coordinate field controls and increase the effectiveness of monitoring this important sector for the economy,” he said.
For his part, the Director General of Taxes, Ilir Binaj, assessed this initiative as an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two institutions. "The hydrocarbon sector requires continuous coordination between our administrations. This operational plan is an opportunity to take cooperation between Taxes and Customs to another level, in order to monitor prices, increase transparency and formalize the market", emphasized Binaj.
