Malay: The economy is expected to grow by an average of about 4% during the period 2027–2029

The Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, stated today in a media appearance after the government meeting that, during the period 2027–2029, an average economic growth of around 4% is predicted.
"Indicative ceilings are the spaces or opportunities that we allow line ministries to spend. The ceilings are determined based on economic growth and the revenues that the Ministry of Finance will generate through the General Directorate of Taxes and the General Directorate of Customs," he said.
The Minister emphasized that an increase in ceilings means more spending on education, more spending on agriculture, more spending on health, more spending on defense, and so on.
Malaj emphasized that during the period 2027–2029, an average economic growth of about 4% is predicted.
"What is important to emphasize is that during the period 2027–2029 we have predicted an average economic growth of around 4%," the minister said.
Meanwhile, he added, "the revenues we anticipate for the same period are about 500 million euros more each year."
"This translates into an increase of about 10% in spending: about 10% increase in agriculture, about 10% increase in health, about 10% increase in education and so on," Malaj said.
Also, the minister added, through the increase in the spaces that have been created, the government is in line to fulfill all obligations related to protection.
"So, to achieve that target we need to reach 3.5% of Gross Domestic Product as defense spending," he said.
