Farmers "thirsty" for oil - Over 68 thousand applications in the agricultural scheme
Over 68,000 farmers applied for agricultural subsidies, 90% of whom are seeking to benefit from excise-free oil. The deadline for applications to the National Subsidy Scheme closed at midnight on Friday.
The government has made subsidies available to farmers for 8 measures that will be financed, including support for the basic registered herd/cow/sheep and goats; beekeeping; support for seeds/seedlings and other inputs; support for the cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants; support for organic farms; Global GAP certification; as well as support with oil for mechanized work in agriculture.
Applications for the National Agricultural Support Scheme opened on April 14. Those who have cows will receive 10,000 lek per head, while those who breed small animals will receive 1,200 lek. Beekeepers will be supported with 1,000 lek, while vegetable, strawberry and grape growers will receive 200,000 lek per hectare. For medicinal plants, the support is 30,000 lek/hectare.
Regarding geographical distribution, this year too the highest number of applications is in the regions where agriculture and livestock are more developed, such as Fier, Korçë, Berat and Elbasan.
The funds made available to farmers have significantly increased formality in agriculture, as the main condition for benefiting is having a NIPT. This year, over 5,200 farmers have been newly provided with NIPT for taxes.
