Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion, 20 years of cooperation between the countries of the region - Begaj: Regional cooperation, a key factor for European stability and development
The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, participated in the event organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion, with the theme "Vision for the Future of the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion".
In his speech, the Head of State praised the role of the Euroregion as a successful model of cross-border cooperation and a concrete example of European solidarity, which for two decades has brought communities closer, strengthened partnerships and brought tangible benefits to citizens.
"The 20th anniversary of the Adriatic and Ionian Euroregion shows that this initiative has proven that cooperation does not only happen at political tables and in agreements between states, but is built closer to citizens where concrete needs are identified and solutions are provided that improve the daily lives of the communities they represent.
This Euroregion is more than a collaboration; it is an example of European solidarity and of a Europe built through trust, partnership and shared vision. This platform was born from the conviction that the Adriatic and Ionian Seas should be seen as a space that unites us and not divides us. Today, this initiative has produced concrete results, created lasting partnerships and strengthened the ties between our peoples.
The Head of State reconfirmed Albania's commitment to supporting any initiative that strengthens ties between the communities of the region and contributes to a more developed, more sustainable and more competitive Adriatic-Ionian space.
