Electrification of the Tirana-Durrës train, winner announced - Verdho: Bid 22 million euros, contract with the Italian company signed in July

The tender for the electrification of the Tirana - Durrës - Rinas railway line has been finalized, with the announcement of the company that will carry out the works.
The confirmation comes from the head of Albanian Railways, Ergys Verdho, who told TV SCAN that the contract with the Italian company is expected to be signed in July, while works will begin in September.
The winning bid has a value of 22 million euros, and in addition to the Tirana - Durrës - Rinas line, it will also include the electrification of 4 km that will be built to restore the train station in the capital.
The tender for the electrification of this railway line was opened by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in September last year, with the contracting authority being the Albanian Railways.
Electrification is one of the last links for the finalization and commissioning of the lines, as civil works have currently been completed and work is underway on the construction of station buildings. In parallel, the tender procedure is underway for the construction of the Rinas station, which is not part of the initial contract, as well as the tender for the construction of the segment, which will enable the connection from the bus terminal in Kashar, to the former train station in the capital.
