Electrification of the Tirana-Durrës-Rinas railway/ 46 million lek for the relocation of the electric lines. The project will guarantee the functioning of the line

With a limit fund of around 46 million lek, the Distribution System Operator has opened the tender for the relocation of electrical lines along the Tirana - Durrës - Rinas railway segment.
According to accompanying documents, the repositioning of the power lines will guarantee the safety and functionality of the railway line, but will also ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to household and private subscribers who are connected to the existing network.
The project envisages the relocation and elimination of overhead power line crossings, replacing them with a new network of underground cable lines, which in some segments will pass under the train tracks. The intervention includes the relocation of 0.4 kV, 6 kV, 20 kV and 35 kV overhead lines.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, a government meeting approved in principle a loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development worth around 11.7 million euros for the electrification of the line. As a creditor, in September last year the EBRD also opened the 2-phase tender for the electrification works, while the first phase included only the technical proposal, without prices, along with any justified deviations from the requirements, as well as the qualification documents. According to the authorities, the construction of the line will be completed this year, while the electrification and the arrival of trains for the start of operations are intended to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
