The General Director of Customs in Qafë Thanë: Customs activity towards normalization

The Director General of Customs, Besmir Beja, conducted an inspection at the Qafë Thanë Customs Branch to closely monitor the situation at this border point, following the difficulties created by the traffic blockage on the Tirana-Librazhd road axis, which for several days also affected the movement of transport vehicles, especially trucks.
During the field visit, the Director was briefed on the current situation and the measures taken to manage the flow, while activity at the customs point is gradually returning to normal with the resumption of regular vehicle circulation.
In a statement during the inspection, Mr. Beja stressed the importance of restoring normality at this important border point: "Following the situation created by the road blockage and the difficulties experienced by the circulation of transport vehicles, especially trucks, work at the Qafë Thanë customs point is gradually returning to normal. Our structures on the ground have managed the flow and continue to guarantee the regular functioning of customs procedures."
During the inspection, the Director General also held meetings with branch managers and employees, where the functioning of customs procedures, flow management, and the importance of maintaining control and service standards were discussed.
As part of this visit, an awareness-raising meeting was also held at the Qafë Thanë Customs Branch with the staff of the General Directorate, part of an information campaign being carried out in all customs branches in the country by the General Directorate of Customs.
This activity is taking place within the framework of the monitoring visit by DG TAXUD (Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union) and aims to increase the awareness of the Albanian customs administration on the requirements and standards related to the process of Albania's integration into the European Union.
During this meeting, priorities related to the approximation of customs legislation and practices with the European Union acquis were presented, as well as the role of the customs administration in this important process for the country.
