The Competition Authority begins monitoring the bread sales market in Korça

The Competition Authority, based on some information in the media regarding the announcement of bread production and sales companies in the city of Korça, which have notified all points of sale that the selling price of bread from 120 lek will be 150 lek, reflecting a simultaneous increase of over 25%, immediately established a Working Group to monitor this market.
In accordance with Law 9121/2003 "On the Protection of Competition", the Authority is immediately carrying out on-site inspections in order to identify whether this notice will be implemented by the enterprises and, above all, whether this behavior is abusive and therefore in violation of Law no. 9121/2003 "On the Protection of Competition".
Law No. 9121/2003 “On the Protection of Competition” prohibits all agreements which have as their object or effect the prevention, restriction or distortion of competition in the market, especially agreements which directly or indirectly fix purchase or sale prices, or any other trading conditions.
We bring to the attention of bread trading enterprises that violating the law "On the Protection of Competition" constitutes an administrative offense and is sanctioned by a fine of up to 10 percent of the turnover of the previous financial year of the enterprises involved in illegal agreements.
