Customs collects an additional 13 million euros for January - Excise goods

Customs has started 2025 with positive performance in terms of revenue collected.

According to official data, 16.4 billion lek or 164 million euros in total were collected for the month of January. In other words, the customs administration has exceeded the plan for the period, with a realization level of 100.5%.

Compared to January 2024, it turns out that 1.3 billion lek or 13 million euros more have been collected.

The import of excise goods has made the main contribution to revenue generation.

Specifically, for the month of January, 8100 tons more fuel were imported than in January 2024, beer imports increased by 1300 tons compared to the same period a year earlier. There was also an increase in coffee imports by 130 tons and cigarettes by 11 tons.

This performance comes as a result of the increase in the flow of tourists to our country, mainly in the last two years and not only in the summer season, but throughout the year, as well as the increase in consumption as a whole. Also, the numerous movements of citizens during the weekends to use mountain destinations and not only, favored by the good weather, have influenced the increase in this consumption.

Revenues from excise duties in the first 11 months of 2024, as annual statistics have not yet been published, amounted to 57.8 billion lek, 4.8 billion lek or 9.1% more than the same period in 2023.
