"The party budget should be approved as soon as possible" - Celibashi: The average number of applications from the diaspora has increased
The head of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, requested from the Assembly the approval as soon as possible of the fund for financing the parties participating in the May 11 elections.
Currently, the draft decision was submitted to the Assembly on January 28 and determines that the fund to be used by political entities for the election campaign will be 150 million lek.
"We have asked the Albanian Parliament to approve the budget for the political parties' campaign as soon as possible. The budget will be available much earlier than the campaign, because last time it was made possible only a few days before the campaign started." Ilirjan Celibashi said
The CEC Chairman also spoke about the applications of diaspora voters, making public the figures of requests so far.
"Regarding voting from abroad, 116 thousand people have applied for registration. In total, there are 140 thousand applications, but this number is affected by double applications. There are 87 thousand voters who have become part of the elections from abroad. 25,400 applications have been rejected. The countries with the most applications are Italy, Greece and Germany, with 37%, 25% and 11% respectively. These countries also have the highest number of rejections." Ilirjan Celibashi says among other things
Also pending is the design of the ballot paper, which according to Mr. Celibashi will take its final form in the Regulatory Commission.
