Social dialogue in Albania - Manjani: We are preparing to function as Europeans

Social dialogue and European standards in the field of employment were the focus of a two-day workshop, where Albania and North Macedonia discussed the challenges and steps that need to be taken within the framework of the European Union integration process.
The focus of the meeting was Chapter 19, "Social Policy and Employment", part of group chapter 3, "Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth".
For Albania, which has opened all negotiation chapters and has currently closed three of them, approximation with European standards and their implementation in practice remain an important part of the accession process.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation, Olta Manjani, appreciated the importance of this discussion, underlining the government's increased interest and involvement in social dialogue and interaction with other social actors.
“This workshop really gives us an opportunity to learn from each other, to discuss European practice and, above all, to identify concrete steps that we need to take. I am convinced that these two days will help us not only to deepen our understanding of the requirements of Chapter 19, but also beyond that, to strengthen the culture of social dialogue in our countries, both in Albania and in North Macedonia. Because, ultimately, we are not preparing Albania, in this case, only to become a member of the European Union, but we are preparing Albania to function as a member, as a European country. And this includes the way we work together, the way we listen to each other and the way we develop policies that directly affect the lives of our citizens.”
The workshop was attended by representatives of Albanian and Macedonian institutions, the European Commission, international organizations, employers and trade unions.
