Tirana Bypass, tenders closed without complaints - Fund limit 6 billion lekë, the segment aims to connect two highways without entering the capital

The tenders for the construction of the Tirana bypass have been closed without complaints, paving the way for the review of the offers and the selection of the companies that will carry out the works. The 2 public procurement procedures were opened in June of this year, while economic operators had until July 28 to submit the documentation.
The total fund made available for the 2 tenders is 6 billion lek, while the contracts include the construction of the Kashar - Vaqarr Interchange Phase I and II road, which constitute 8.5 km, out of the 21.6 km that is the total bypass of Tirana.
This is one of the most important road projects in the country, as it aims to directly connect the Durrës - Tirana highway with the Tirana - Elbasan highway, avoiding entering the capital.
This road will cross the southern, southwestern and western parts of Tirana, starting near the City Park Shopping Center in Kashar and ending in Mullet, at the intersection with the Tirana-Elbasan highway. The route will have two lanes in each direction, a width of 10.5 meters and will allow speeds of up to 120 km/h.
Beyond the impact on traffic, the bypass is also expected to bring environmental and urban benefits. This is because, by avoiding the passage of heavy traffic through Tirana, it is expected to significantly reduce pollution, internal traffic, and accidents on the capital's urban roads.
