"BOOM" of requests for solar power plants - 7 applications are submitted for large projects with a total capacity of 416.5 MW
The year 2024 has registered a high interest of investors for large photovoltaic plants, as in the first 2 weeks of December, 7 new applications were filed with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy.
Referring to the interest expressed to this department, 7 companies seek to build photovoltaic plants with a total installed capacity of 416.5 MW, in different municipalities of the country.
More specifically, the projects are expected to be developed in the administrative units of the municipalities of Kolonje, Fier, Devoll, Dibër and Pogradec.
In case of the finalization of the procedures, these projects will not be beneficiaries of the government's support measures, which include relief in providing documentation or guaranteed purchase of produced energy.
Meanwhile, throughout this year, dozens of applications submitted by private companies are counted. The estimated installed capacity for these plants is over 240 MW, while their location is different from Fieri, Kolonje, Elbasan, Korçë, Cerrik, etc.
The interest in investing in solar energy has been increasing for several years from the side of private investors, while some requests have been accepted, while others have not.
Currently, solar energy from large plants is little used in our country, as this year the photovoltaic plant of Karavasta entered production, with an installed capacity of 140 MW.
