Muslim believers celebrate Eid al-Fitr - Spahiu: Prayers go out to children

Thousands of Muslim believers in Albania celebrated Eid al-Fitr this Friday, the holiday that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Mosques and squares across the country were filled with believers in the early hours of the morning, who joined in the Eid prayer.

In the capital, the Eid prayer was held in "Skënderbej" Square, where important messages of love and solidarity were also distributed.

The head of the Albanian Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu, in his speech to the believers, brought to attention the wars that are currently taking place.

"Conflicts, wars and injustices continue to take the lives of innocent people, there are families who today do not feel the joy of this prayer, of this day, but the pain of loss and the uncertainty of tomorrow. On this blessed day, our prayers go out to all those who suffer, to the children who grow up amidst the fear and noise of war, to the mothers who anxiously await news about their sons, and to the peoples who seek peace and justice.

"The message of the Islamic religion is clear: Islam is a religion of peace, mercy, justice and solidarity. Allah in the Quran describes his messenger as a mercy for the world and there is nothing else other than that. This means that the believer is called to be a source of peace, mercy and justice everywhere. Today, where the world is, there is a need for more justice, for more understanding and for more peace and human brotherhood, and this peace begins in the human heart, in the family, in the community where we live, it is built with respect and care for each other. We as a society have the responsibility to cultivate these very important values that are inalienable in all times and places ," he said.

After a month of fasting and spiritual devotion, this day comes as a moment of joy, forgiveness, and family reunion. Among the traditional greetings and visits, Eid al-Fitr also brings to mind the importance of helping those in need and strengthening human bonds.
