Dual vocational education is expanding/ Minister Gonxhja: 16 vocational schools, 7 new branches

In the 2025-2026 school year, Dual Vocational Education in Albania is taking an important step, significantly expanding the network of schools and branches that offer this innovative learning model, which combines theory in the classroom with practice in the workplace.
The Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, emphasizes that 16 vocational schools will offer dual programs, up from 10 vocational schools last year.
Also, 7 new branches have been added, which respond to the real needs of the labor market and developing sectors of the economy, such as: Electrical installations; logistics and supply management; vehicle diagnostics and management; fashion design; event management; food and accommodation services; and renewable energy.
This educational model will enable young people involved in a vocational program to complete 3 days of internship at a business and only two days of theoretical instruction at a vocational school. These young people will no longer be considered just students, but student-employees, where their 18 hours a week of work at a business will be paid a monetary amount equal to the minimum wage, and each business will contribute a certain percentage to the training of these young people.
The aim of this project is for students' internships to no longer take place in school premises, but in workplaces.
Registrations are still open. All students who complete the 9th grade can register for the 10th grade through the e-Albania portal or visit the official website www.aftesi.al for more information about programs and schools that offer dual education.
