500 million lek for the rehabilitation of facades in Dhërmi - Intervention

The Municipality of Himara has announced the opening of the competition for the rehabilitation and urban requalification of the facades and territory in the village of Dhërmi, in the protected historical area. This is the second lot of the project, with an estimated limit fund of around 500 million lek.

According to the document in the Public Procurement Agency, the focus will be on the protected area around the historic center. The project foresees an integrated intervention in the facades of buildings, public spaces, roads and urban infrastructure. The aim is to create a unified architectural language, so that new and existing constructions harmonize with the traditional character of the village.

There are about 160 houses and buildings in the protected area, which are categorized as old buildings, new constructions, damaged buildings or buildings that have been changed over the years. The technical document highlights that some of the new and informal buildings do not match the architectural character of historic Dhërmi and create a contrast with the traditional landscape.

According to the document, one of the main components of the project will be the restoration of buildings with historical and architectural value, as well as the adaptation of new constructions to the traditional typology. The interventions will aim to preserve traditional construction techniques, while for buildings in a state of degradation, structural consolidation is also foreseen.

Particular attention will be paid to the characteristic architectural elements of the area, such as stone walls, tiled roofs, traditional gates and windows. The aim is for the buildings to preserve their historical identity, while at the same time adapting to contemporary needs.

An important part of the investment will also be the redevelopment of roads and pedestrian paths. The project envisages the unification of surfaces and the use of materials that harmonize with the historical character of the village.
