Additional 3.4 million euros for Qukës-Qafë Plloë - ARRSH opens the tender for the completion of works in lot I
Completion of the works on the first lot of the road axis Qukës-Qafë Plloë will be done with budget funds. The Albanian Road Authority has opened the tender, while the limit fund made available is 336 million lek, or about 3.4 million euros.
The tender for completing the works was opened after an on-site verification of the existing condition of this axis, taking into consideration the long time that has passed since the initial start of the works.
According to the tender documents, the works in this segment started in June 2009 and ended in December 2014.
Meanwhile, during the implementation of the works, a massive landslide occurred, where in addition to the village that was on the left side of the road, the body of the road, concrete retaining walls, works of art such as tombino, etc. were damaged to a significant degree.
As a result of the slide, the axis was moved to a length of about 800 ml, which had an additional cost of 20% of the contract value.
But, even with the additional funds, the facility was not completed 100% and was not put into use, as the road layers, horizontal and vertical signage, road safety, some elements of the bridge, concrete culverts, channels, optical fibers remained unfinished. For these reasons, a series of works are also needed, so that the axis is accessible for vehicles.
In addition to Lot I, work is currently underway on 2 other lots for the completion of this road, while earlier it was stated that the works are expected to be completed in 2025.
The Qukës-Qafë Plloçë road axis has a total length of 43.8 km and will be a C1 category road where the permitted speed will be 80 - 90 km/h.
