May 30, deadline for farmers - Funds in agriculture, high interest in free oil
Farmers across the country will have until May 30 to apply for agricultural funding, and will then go through a screening and selection process.
Applications for the National Agricultural Support Scheme opened on April 14 and, according to AZHBR data, as of May 28, over 66 thousand applications have been registered, with the highest interest being for diesel support with over 50 thousand applications from farmers.
Regarding the geographical distribution, there were no surprises this year as the highest number of applications is in the regions where agriculture and livestock farming is most developed, such as Fier, Korçë, Berat and Elbasan.
The funds made available to farmers have also significantly increased formality in agriculture, as the main condition for benefiting is having an active nephew. As a result, this year it turns out that there are over 5,200 farmers who have been newly provided with a nephew in taxes.
Support will be provided for agriculture, mainly for the cultivation of vegetables, fruits, aromatic and medicinal plants, as well as organic farms, livestock, and beekeeping. Among the main criteria are land ownership or use and the absence of obligations to the Social Security Institute.
This year, farmers will receive cash payments for the oil they use for mechanized agricultural work.
The fund for this year is 3.2 billion lek and more priority in financing will be given to agricultural cooperative societies, which will not have a financing limit.
Over 67,000 farmers across the country have benefited from the Agricultural Subsidy Scheme throughout 2024. Official data from the Ministry of Agriculture shows that funds have been disbursed specifically to 67,132 beneficiaries in total, of which 14,937 beneficiaries from the national scheme and 52,195 planned from the oil subsidy scheme for agriculture.
