230 million lek for the Llogara tunnel - ARRSH announces the company that will be responsible for safety and maintenance
With a bid of around 230 million lek, the Albanian Road Authority has announced the winning company for the maintenance of the Llogara tunnel for the next 4 years. The contractor will be the joint venture of operators “AM” and “Gjoka Konstruksion”, which will have the role of “Tunnel Manager”.
According to the tender documents, the consortium will ensure, above all, safety, effectiveness and efficiency in work, as well as the most economical operation of the tunnel and its accesses. It will also have to ensure effective, qualitative and economical maintenance for the operating machinery and all assembly works that are necessary for the smooth running of the tunnel.
The Llogara Tunnel was opened for vehicle traffic during the summer season last year. Meanwhile, in October it was closed again, to complete the works on the emergency tunnel. The final delivery of this infrastructure work is expected to take place during this year, while the passage will be paid. However, so far it has not been announced how much the fee that will be applied will be.
Construction of the Llogara tunnel began in November 2021 through a contract worth 17 billion lek. It is 6 km long and consists of the main and emergency tunnels.
It is part of the Orikum - Himara road section and begins 500 m north-west of the Shën Eliza bridge on the Dukat - Llogara road segment and ends 1.3 km west of the Palasa bridge, completely avoiding the Llogara Pass.
