1.8 billion lek for the Census in agriculture - INSTAT: 3400 employees will

INSTAT will use a fund of about 1.8 billion lek to carry out the Census of Agriculture. Statistical information will be collected for six weeks in the field by about 3,400 employees throughout the country. The draft law “On the Census of Agriculture” is considered an important step in creating the legal basis for the development of this process according to European Union standards.

INSTAT Director, Lantona Sado, said that the draft law creates a clear legal basis for the implementation of the agricultural census.

"This draft law was drafted with the support of donors. The goal is to create a legal basis for conducting the census in accordance with the requirements of the European Union. The draft law is aligned with EU legislation, fulfilling the recommendations for Chapter 18 - Statistics," Sado declared.

The Agricultural Census is the largest statistical operation that INSTAT is expected to undertake after the Population and Housing Census, aiming to collect complete data on the agricultural sector in about 90% of the territory where activity is carried out.

The data that will be provided by the census will serve farmers to benefit from support schemes on a real basis, institutions to draft effective policies and fulfill obligations related to the process of Albania's membership in the European Union.
