1.7 million euros for Vlora Hydropower Plant - Denaj: We will increase investments in the next 2 years
Prime Minister Edi Rama, as well as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, were today at the Akërnia Dam in Vlora, an investment by the Albanian government last year, where one of the most important dams was completely reconstructed with almost 1.5 million euros.
Denaj emphasized that new equipment has now replaced equipment from 50 years ago. This dam protects almost 5,000 hectares of agricultural land that is drained thanks to this investment, which also protects the Vlora International Airport.
According to the Minister, 1.7 million euros will be dedicated to investments in the Vlora Hydropower Plant over the next 2 years, while investments in hydropower plants throughout Albania amount to 276 million euros.
"We have made some savings from the Ministry's budget for the Vlora City Hydropower Plant. We have initiated legal acts for 1.7 million euros so that the Vlora Hydropower Plant, which is in difficulty every time it rains, can be resolved within the year. It is an investment for the next 2 years. The Orikum Hydropower Plant, is 35 million euros of investment in the last decade alone in infrastructure, drainage systems in the city of Vlora. In all of Albania, it is 276 million ," said Denaj.
The investment in the Akërnia Hydropower Plant has replaced the existing electric pumps, whose outdated technology has been replaced with modern systems, which save up to 50 thousand lek per cubic meter of water. This technology makes the hydropower plant more efficient and economical, bringing a significant increase in the efficiency of wastewater removal.
