11% more foreign visitors in March - Minister Gonxhja: Albania, a safe and attractive alternative

Albania is affirming itself as a continuously growing tourist destination, attracting an increasing number of visitors from all over the world.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, announced that during the month of March 2026, our country welcomed 609,363 foreign visitors. The data represents a significant increase of 59,598 more visitors compared to the same period in 2025, or about 11%, reflecting the growing interest in Albania.
On the other hand, Minister Gonxhja emphasizes that in a global context accompanied by economic challenges, uncertainty and strong competition between destinations, Albania is managing to stand out as a safe, authentic and increasingly preferred alternative for tourists seeking new experiences throughout the year.
The natural beauty of the country, which extends from the crystal-clear Ionian and Adriatic coasts to the mountains and national parks, continues to be one of the main attractive assets. At the same time, the rich cultural and historical heritage, reflected in the museum cities, archaeological sites and centuries-old traditions, is attracting more and more visitors interested in cultural tourism, making the country's tourist offer more complete and competitive. Meanwhile, Gjirokastra, Berat, Butrint, Kruja, Tirana, Shkodra, etc., are sought-after destinations for historical and cultural tourism.
Albania is gaining ground on the international tourism map as a preferred and competitive destination, contributing not only to the country's economic growth, but also to improving its image on the international stage.
