"Generations have been sacrificed for Kosovo over the centuries" - Albin Kurti, at the Government meeting for the 18th anniversary of the founding of the state

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, at the solemn meeting of the Government of Kosovo for the 18th anniversary of the establishment of the state, said that on this day of celebration and reflection, one cannot help but remember that the representatives who participated in the declaration of the independence of the Republic are today being unjustly held in The Hague.
According to him, the contribution of each of them to the freedom and independence of the country is precious and history will be the one that will make the right judgment.
"We honor the resistance and sacrifice of the people, we honor the heroes and activists who have fallen over the centuries, the peaceful resistance and the armed uprisings after World War II, which culminated in the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Today our independence turns 18. Perhaps a young age for the state, but an important chapter in our long journey as a people. Indeed, our state, independence and constitution are new, but our language, culture and people are ancient. Every citizen, regardless of language or ethnicity, religion or origin, is equal before the law," he said.
He recalled that former KLA leaders are being unjustly held in The Hague.
"In these 18 years, we have achieved a lot as a state and as a society. From the first days of international recognition, which now number 121 today, to the consolidation of democratic institutions and the rule of law. From building a stable and growing economy, to strengthening our army and defense capacities. From international victories in sports, art and culture, to participation in world forums. From free visa-free movement to concrete steps towards European integration, including application to the European Union and the Council of Europe, which are achievements that make us all proud. On this day of celebration and reflection, I cannot help but remember that the representatives who participated in the declaration of independence of our republic are today unjustly held in The Hague. The contribution of each of them to freedom and independence is precious and history will be the one that will make the right judgment," Kurti added.
According to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, strengthening and developing the state requires joint commitment with work, knowledge and integrity.
