Kosovo, runoffs in 18 municipalities conclude, LDK leads, also wins Pristina

The runoff for local elections in Kosovo has concluded. In 18 municipalities, citizens elected new mayors, including in large centers such as Pristina, South Mitrovica, Prizren and Gjakova.
The Central Election Commission has announced the preliminary results. Voting has been fully completed in all municipalities, while on the online platform, according to the head of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi, two more polling stations for South Mitrovica will be updated later.
"The final results will be announced after counting the votes of the diaspora, people with special needs, and conditional votes," he said.
Regarding votes from the diaspora, he said he expects them to arrive in Kosovo next week and the counting of all votes to be completed a week later.
According to the results for the runoff round, LDK won in five municipalities, LVV and AAK in four each, and PDK in three municipalities.
LVV's candidate for Pristina, Hajrulla Çeku, has congratulated Përparim Rama from the LDK on his victory in the local elections in the Kosovo capital.
"I congratulate Mr. Rama on his victory and I sincerely wish our capital, Pristina, to truly emerge from the chaos it has entered. I will continue to serve Pristina, with the same dedication and love, for this city that we all call home," he wrote on Facebook.
He thanked every citizen who voted for him in the two election rounds.
Çeku, who according to preliminary results won 48.46 percent of the vote, said that LVV will be the opposition in the Pristina Municipal Assembly and will "follow every step" that the municipal government will take, "ensuring that the interests of citizens and the city are protected until the end."
