AI is transforming the economy and society in Kosovo - Minister Jagxhiu: Its use in all fields is a necessity

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming the economy and society in Kosovo, while its use in all fields is now a necessity.
This was stated by the Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, during the presentation of the report on the governance of Artificial Intelligence in Kosovo. He underlined that it is being ensured that every new digital initiative in public administration also includes functionalities based on Artificial Intelligence. Projects such as e-Kosovo 2.0, the Digital Assistant in ATK, the new generation of integrated services based on life events, as well as the pan-government platforms that are being built, will include solutions supported by AI. These initiatives aim to provide more interconnected, more proactive and more personalized public services to citizens.
At the same time, he emphasized that investments are being made in the development of data infrastructure, the advancement of institutional mechanisms, and the strengthening of human capacities for the application of Artificial Intelligence in public administration.
However, during this transformative journey, according to Minister Jagxhiu, it must be ensured that AI is used responsibly, always keeping humans at the center and establishing the necessary protective mechanisms to preserve health, security, fundamental rights and democracy.
As a country aiming for membership in the European Union, he emphasized that Kosovo's path to governing and regulating Artificial Intelligence is closely linked to the European framework based on the EU AI Act.
