Albanians increasingly choose Asian vehicles - Over 41% of the total come from South Korea and China

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services has published the report on vehicle registration in the country for the period January-May 2026, reflecting the origin of vehicles registered for the first time in Albania.
According to the data, the Republic of Korea continues to hold the top spot as the main source of first-time vehicle registrations, with 24.3% of the total. This indicator confirms the growing interest of Albanian citizens in Korean vehicles, which have been gaining ground for years thanks to the combination of technology, efficiency and competitive costs.
China ranks second with 17.6% of total registrations. The increasing presence of Chinese vehicles in the Albanian market reflects the expansion of the offer of Chinese manufacturers, especially in the electric and hybrid vehicle segment, which are attracting increasing interest from consumers.
Meanwhile, Germany remains one of the traditional sources of imported vehicles in the country, representing 12.2% of total first-time registered vehicles. Italy ranks next with 11.9%, maintaining its position as one of Albania's main trading partners in the automotive sector as well.
The United States accounts for 7.8% of total new registrations, while Switzerland represents 6.9%.
Data shows that vehicles originating from Asian countries are gaining more and more weight. The Republic of Korea and China alone together account for over 41% of total vehicles registered for the first time, reflecting Albanian consumer trends and the transformation of the automotive market.
