Limited fuel price increase - Croatian government: Electricity and gas will not increase until September 30

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic presented the 10th package of measures to help citizens and the economy, worth 450 million euros. The increase in fuel prices will be limited and electricity and gas prices will be maintained until September 30 this year.
During the last government meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that, with the nine previous packages worth 8.5 billion euros, the total value of interventions aimed at protecting citizens and the economy from price increases since 2020 has reached nine billion euros.
Plenkovic stated that the government cannot completely stop the price increase because then distributors will not be able to supply the market and people from neighboring countries will come to gas stations in Croatia even more intensively than before. He added that regulated prices will only be at gas stations outside the highways, and market prices will be on the highways.
When it comes to electricity and gas prices, Prime Minister Plenkovic stressed that the Government has decided to continue with measures to subsidize these prices, although it was initially planned that they would be gradually removed from April 1. The total value of this measure is over 100 million euros.
With this package, the total value of all previous packages of measures to help citizens and the economy is almost 9 billion euros.
Plenkovic said that measures have also been prepared to support the sustainability of domestic public transport in the amount of 8 million euros. The support for public passenger transport amounts to 0.16 euros per liter of diesel, and the aim of the measure is to maintain availability and prevent ticket prices from increasing.
The effect of this measure for transport operators is lower fuel costs, easier coverage of losses due to rising fuel prices, the possibility of investing in the fleet and retaining drivers, as well as the maintenance of less profitable lines.
The tenth package of measures also includes special measures for farmers and fishermen worth 28 million euros, the Prime Minister said.
