France, bonus to boost the automotive industry - 1,000 euros for the purchase of electric cars with European batteries
The French government announced an additional bonus of 1,000 euros for the purchase of a European-made battery electric car. The decision aims to support the purchase of electric vehicles by families and promote the transition of the European automotive industry.
This financial support, valid from October 1, will be added to the current ecological bonus, which came into effect on July 1 and can reach up to 4,200 euros.
The goal is to send a clear signal to car manufacturers to be supplied with electric batteries from European factories, official ministry sources explain.
The list of vehicles that meet the conditions will be published in the coming days on the official website of the Agency for Ecological Transition.
After significant reductions in recent years, and especially after the abolition of the bonus for handing in old cars, the ecological bonus for purchasing an electric car was increased on July 1, from 200 to 1,200 euros. Depending on the family's income, this financial assistance can go up to 4,200 euros for families with lower incomes.
"The announced bonus aims to shift the electric car value chain to Europe and also support industrial employment on our continent," the press release continued. The decision came just days before a meeting in Brussels on the future of the European automotive sector, weakened in particular by Chinese competition.
