Trump removes 40% tariffs on Brazilian products - The decision includes coffee, meat, cocoa and fruits

US President Donald Trump has slapped 40% tariffs on Brazilian food products, including meat, coffee, cocoa and fruit. The measures were imposed in July to punish Brazil over the criminal prosecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro, a Trump ally.
The move follows a similar administration order last week to remove tariffs on some agricultural products from other countries, as the White House reverses policy on measures that have raised food prices in the US.
The order will affect Brazilian imports to the US from November 13 onwards and may require the refund of tariffs collected on these goods while the measures were still in force, according to the text published by the White House.
Brazil supplies a third of the coffee used in the US, the world's largest consumer of this product, and has recently increased its supply of meat, especially the types used for hamburgers.
Retail coffee prices in the U.S. have risen as much as 40% this year due to tariffs and lower production, which came as a result of extreme weather conditions. Some importers were storing products in warehouses after the announcement of high Brazilian tariffs, waiting for a possible review of the measures.
Trump's executive order does not mention actions against Brazilian authorities involved in the prosecution and conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed satisfaction that the 40% tariff was removed, stressing that this will help trade between the two countries.
