OpenAI, collaboration with PayPal - Agreement allows users to purchase products through ChatGPT
PayPal is partnering with OpenAI to enable users to purchase products directly through its artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT.
Under the agreement, PayPal users will be able to make purchases through an instant payment system, while sellers using PayPal will be able to complete transactions within ChatGPT.
Official sources from PayPal emphasized that the company aims to create an experience where users can go “from conversation to payment with just a few clicks.” Customers will also have access to PayPal’s digital wallet, which includes their bank account, balance, and cards. Through OpenAI’s platform, they will be able to track purchases made and file complaints about orders.
For sellers, PayPal will manage processes like “merchant onboarding, payment verification, and order fulfillment,” enabling millions of products to be available for purchase on ChatGPT.
OpenAI has already begun expanding into e-commerce with its “Buy it in ChatGPT” initiative, which allows users in the United States to buy directly from Etsy sellers. The company also announced that agreements with “over a million merchants on Shopify” are expected to go live soon.
In recent months, PayPal has also announced similar partnerships with Google and Perplexity to create shopping experiences through artificial intelligence.
