Nvidia, 7 supercomputers for the US government - $500 billion for artificial intelligence chips

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the leading artificial intelligence chipmaker will build seven new supercomputers for the U.S. Department of Energy. The company currently has $500 billion in orders for the new technology semiconductors.
Nvidia, the world's first corporation to reach a market value of over $4 trillion, is at the center of the global artificial intelligence revolution. The tech giant is making deals around the world while facing the challenges of the US-China trade war.
Investors are seeking more clarity on which chips Nvidia will be able to sell in the vast Chinese market. But Huang opened his speech by praising U.S. President Donald Trump's policies while introducing new products and deals. These include networking technology that will allow Nvidia's chips to interact with quantum computers.
The supercomputers that Nvidia will build for the Department of Energy will partly help the United States maintain and develop its nuclear arsenal. They will also be used for research into alternative energy sources, including nuclear fusion. The largest supercomputer for the department will be built in collaboration with Oracle and will contain 100,000 Blackwell series chips.
Nvidia also announced a new partnership with Finnish telecommunications equipment company Nokia, targeting the market for artificial intelligence-powered communications. The company will invest $1 billion to take a 2.9% stake in Nokia and introduced a new product line called Arc, designed to integrate with telecommunications equipment. Huang said Nvidia will work with the Finnish firm to improve the energy efficiency of the company's base stations for 6G, the next generation of wireless technology.
