Agreement on the “Golden Dome” and minerals is ready - Trump's

"Freeze" in the Greenland dispute? Trump's defense from Davos - "The Agreement" and the "Golden Dome"

US President Donald Trump announced an agreement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on cooperation between the US and European allies on the development of the Golden Dome missile defense shield and minerals in Greenland. The agreement covers not only Greenland, but the entire Arctic.

Donald Trump announced that the United States and its European allies will cooperate in the development of the Golden Dome missile defense shield and in the extraction of minerals in Greenland, according to a draft agreement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The US president stressed that European allies will have an active role in both the Golden Dome program and mineral rights. “They will participate in Golden Dome and they will participate in mineral rights, just as we do,” he said.

When asked about the duration of the agreement, Trump limited himself to the word "Forever." He added that it was a "very good deal for the United States, but also for them," although he acknowledged that "it's a little complicated" and that the details would be presented later.

After meeting with Mark Rutte at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump announced via Truth Social that the two sides had reached a framework for a future agreement on "Greenland and the entire Arctic region."

He said that once completed, the agreement “will be extremely beneficial to the United States and all NATO member states.” He also announced that tariffs that were set to take effect on February 1 would not be imposed, which helped improve market confidence.

The US president explained that discussions are ongoing on how to link the Golden Dome program to Greenland. The US vice president, secretary of state, special envoy and other government officials will be responsible for the negotiations, who will report directly to him. "The agreement will be presented relatively quickly," Trump noted, adding that "it's still a work in progress, but it's quite advanced and gives us everything we needed."

The draft agreement, as Trump describes it, combines defense, mineral wealth, and geopolitical influence in the Arctic.

The prospect of permanent cooperation over the "Golden Dome" and Greenland's minerals is expected to cause reactions in Copenhagen, but also constitute a critical test for the balances within NATO in a region of growing strategic importance.
