Forecast, Albania 6th in the world for GDP per capita growth/ Visual Capitalist: In 2026-2030 the indicator is expected to increase by about 32.1%

Albania is expected to be one of the fastest growing countries in the world in terms of GDP per capita in the coming years. According to an analysis published by Visual Capitalist, based on data from the International Monetary Fund, the country ranks sixth globally for the period 2026-2030.
According to projections, Albania's Gross Domestic Product per capita is expected to grow by about 32.1% during this period. This indicator is used to measure the standard of living, as it shows how much income the economy produces for each resident.
Moldova tops the list, followed by Guyana and Turkmenistan, while Serbia and Armenia also stand out in the region. The list is dominated by developing countries, especially in Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
According to the publication, the rapid growth in these countries is mainly related to investments, the development of key sectors and efforts to approach European Union standards.
Albania is no exception to this trend.
In the case of Albania, several factors seem to be driving this growth. Tourism has seen strong expansion in recent years and is bringing more revenue to the economy. Foreign investment in energy, construction, and infrastructure has also boosted economic activity.
However, one important fact should be kept in mind: Albania starts from a lower level of per capita income compared to more developed countries. This means that it is easier to achieve high percentage growth rates.
Emigration can also play an often overlooked role. Population outflows reduce the number of inhabitants and, automatically, increase GDP per capita, even if the economy has not grown to the same extent.
