Where is it worth living in 2026? - The "golden" list of the 10 best cities in Europe

European urban life is rapidly transforming, as a new comprehensive study for 2026 reveals which cities are managing to balance quality of life, economic vitality and attractiveness for residents and investors. According to the latest data from Resonance Consultancy, in collaboration with Ipsos, the leading European cities emerge through a multi-factor assessment based on dozens of indicators.
At the top of the ranking is London, which is renowned for its continuous innovation, international appeal and dynamic economy. The British capital is highly rated in both prosperity and overall attractiveness, remaining one of the most important global centers for investment, technology and culture.
In second place is Paris, which has been transformed in recent years through the adoption of the "15-minute city" model. Wide pedestrian streets, the development of bike lanes, and investments in public transportation have significantly improved the daily lives of residents, making the city more sustainable and functional.
Berlin rounds out the top three, rebranding itself as a hub for green growth and the creative economy. A prime example is the transformation of the former Tegel Airport into a pioneering sustainable urban complex. The city continues to attract startups, investment and tourism at levels approaching or exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
Next in the ranking are Rome, Barcelona and Madrid, cities that combine a strong cultural identity with modern urban interventions. Amsterdam, Vienna, Prague and Stockholm complete the top ten, confirming the continued presence of Northern and Central European cities in the best quality of life rankings.
The study assessed metropolitan areas with a population of over 500,000, using 47 different indicators grouped into three main pillars: Liveability, Love and Well-being. The results were also reinforced by citizen perception data, capturing not only objective conditions but also how residents themselves experience their cities.
