How much do Albanians spend on perfumes? Last year, about 10 million euros were imported. The United Arab Emirates expands its share
The perfume industry in Albania is experiencing significant growth, with a high demand for fragrances of different brands from different countries. Data on perfume imports in the last two years clearly show the dynamic figures and diversification of the market.
"Scan Intel" has provided data on perfume imports for the last two years and their origin. The numbers speak of around 1 billion lek imports in 2024, or almost 10 million euros.
Compared to 2023, when the import value was recorded at 879 million lek, the growth last year is estimated at around 19% or 166 million lek more in one year. Ten years ago, this market maintained a relatively small size.
But is the thread of the "classical" origin of perfume trading in Albania being lost?
"Scan Intel" has analyzed the import of perfumes by main countries of origin, which results in France and Italy holding the largest share with around 64.9% of the total for 2024, followed by Turkey with 8.1% and Spain with 7.8% of the weight of imports.
More specifically, imports from France are recorded at 426 million lekë, while those from Italy at around 176 million lekë.
But what is noticeable compared to 2023 is the decline in the weight of these two main partners. Perfumes from the United Arab Emirates are increasingly finding their place in the Albanian market. According to figures, the weight of imports for 2024 from the United Arab Emirates is estimated at 5.1% from 1.8% in 2023. In absolute terms, imports with this partner in 2024 amounted to 53 million lek.
