The labor market loses 11 thousand young people in one year/ Employment in

Around 6,500 people aged 15 and over have exited the labour market over the last year, the latest INSTAT data show, although the employment rate has increased.

The number of employed persons aged 15 and over reached 1.17 million, marking an increase of 0.7% compared to the previous quarter, while compared to the same quarter of the previous year it recorded a decrease of 0.6%.

According to INSTAT, in the third quarter of 2025, the employment rate for young people aged 15-29 is 45.5%. This indicator has decreased by 0.6 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2024, but has increased by 1.7 percentage points compared to the previous quarter. In absolute terms, about 11 thousand young people have exited the labor market within a year.

Meanwhile, the employment rate for the population aged 15-64 is estimated at 69.6%

But how are unemployment data presented?

In the third quarter of 2025, the unemployment rate for the population aged 15 and over is 8.1%. Compared to the same quarter of 2024, the indicator remains unchanged, while compared to the previous quarter it has decreased by 0.4 percentage points.

The unemployment rate is 6.8% for men and 9.7% for women. Compared to a year ago, unemployment for women has increased by 1.2 percentage points, while for men it has decreased by 0.9 percentage points.

For young people aged 15-29, the unemployment rate is 15.0%, marking a decrease of 2.8 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2024 and a decrease of 1.3 percentage points compared to the previous quarter.
