Albania leads Europe again/ Around 166% more commercial flights in June than

Albania is increasingly attracting the attention of foreign vacationers, especially after the pandemic. Tourism seems to be one of the fastest growing sectors in the country. One of the main factors that has influenced this development is the establishment of "low-cost" airlines, as in many other European countries, which has led to a significant increase in the number of commercial flights.

According to data from the European Statistical Agency, for the month of June 2025, Albania has achieved a very positive result. Compared to the same month before the start of the pandemic, the number of flights has increased by a full 166.4%, leading Europe and the region. This significant increase in air traffic shows not only the increased interest in Albania as a tourist destination, but also the improvement of the country's infrastructure and tourist offer. During the month of June alone, Tirana International Airport welcomed around 1.15 million passengers. During this month, 6,830 flights were operated, connecting Tirana with 103 destinations in 31 countries, through 27 airlines operating at this airport.

How is the situation in the region? After Albania, the country with the highest increase in commercial flights is Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an increase of 64.7%. Serbia has also recorded a positive trend, with an increase of 41.4%. North Macedonia has recorded a more moderate increase of 21.8%, while Montenegro is the only country in the region that has recorded a decrease in this regard, with -3.3%.

What's happening in the rest of Europe? On a European scale, Albania is the country with the largest increase in the number of flights, followed by Iceland, with an increase of 106.9%. Then come Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Poland.

However, not all countries have maintained a positive balance. According to the data, Latvia has recorded the largest decline in commercial flights, with -30.7%. The situation is also negative for Sweden (-23.6%), Finland (-22.3%) and Slovenia (-21.7%).
