What percentage of Albanian teachers use AI? Albania leads the region and the continent, France at the bottom

Artificial Intelligence, besides being one of the latest developments in technology, has also become very useful. In almost all companies where it has found use, education has not escaped without becoming part of this change. Artificial intelligence in this field finds various uses, such as by students who can use it for homework, essays, research and projects, it can also be used by teachers.
According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), the use of artificial intelligence by teachers varies significantly across Europe from 2024.
This research measured the level of AI use in 32 countries for lower secondary schools. Albania leads the region and Europe in the use of artificial intelligence by teachers, with 53.2% of them having used it at least once, while France comes last in this regard.
What is striking from the statistics is that Western European countries, in general, have a lower usage rate than Eastern European countries.
But how does the use of artificial intelligence vary by country? If we talk about the region, after Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia are ranked, being in the top 10 of the list, where according to the study, about 43% of teachers in Kosovo and 42% in North Macedonia use AI. Meanwhile, Serbia and Montenegro present lower percentages, ranking at the bottom of the region and Europe.
On the other hand, the average is 32% in the European Union (EU-22), while in the OECD (27 countries) it is 36%.
In Europe, after Albania, teachers in Malta (46%), the Czech Republic (45.8%), Romania (45.8%) and Poland (45.1%) show high use of AI in schools.
Meanwhile, the countries where teachers use it the least are: Bulgaria, Hungary, the French region of Belgium, Turkey, Italy, Finland, Montenegro and Slovakia.
What do teachers use AI for?
Of teachers who have used AI, on average in the European Union (EU-22), almost two-thirds (65%) say they use it to effectively teach and summarize a topic, and 64% use AI to generate lesson plans or activities. The two highest percentages indicate that AI is used primarily for teacher training.
