In September 2024, the capacities of accommodation structures have marked a significant increase compared to the same period last year, reflecting a more successful season for the tourism sector. The number of total visitors has increased by 34.1%, with a particularly pronounced increase in foreign visitors, who were 51.6% more than in September 2023. Meanwhile, domestic visitors have recorded a more moderate increase of 2.2%.
At the same time, an increase of 21.2% was registered in the number of total net-stays. This increase came mainly from foreign visitors, who contributed significantly to this indicator, while the net-stays of local visitors increased by 3.1%.
The origin of the foreign visitors was different. According to INSTAT, most of them came from Kosovo, accounting for 10.6% of the total, followed by Poland with 10.1%. Other representative countries include Italy (7.6%), Germany (6.6%) and the United Kingdom (4.3%).
According to the analysis of "Scan Intel", most visitors are concentrated in the "Center Region", which includes 44% of them, while "Coastal Areas" received 65.9% of visitors. In terms of accommodation, 92.6% of tourists have chosen to stay in "Hotels and similar accommodation".
Regarding the utilization of accommodation capacities, it results that during the month of September 2024, the rate of utilization of rooms in the "Hotels and similar accommodations" category has reached 40.4%, from 32.4% that was in September last year. Likewise, the bed utilization rate has increased, reaching 44.3% from 37% in the same period last year. These figures show a significant improvement in accommodation capacity utilization, reflecting a stronger and more successful tourist season.
