Inflation in Albania lower than in the Balkans/ Eurostat: The rate in 2025 is estimated at 2.3%, compared to 2.5% in the EU

Annual inflation in Albania, measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), marked an average increase of 2.3% during 2025, positioning itself at the same level as Germany and the Czech Republic and below the European Union average, which was 2.5%.
In December 2025, meanwhile, annual inflation in Albania reached 2.2%, while the monthly change was 0.6%, driven mainly by the increase in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
Compared to other countries and those in the region, Albania presents a significantly lower inflation rate than Romania with 6.8%, Estonia with 4.8%, Hungary with 4.5%, Croatia and North Macedonia with 4.4%, and Serbia and Montenegro with 4.1%. Meanwhile, inflation in Kosovo was recorded at 3.9%.
At the European level, the lowest inflation rates were recorded in Switzerland with 0.1%, Cyprus with 0.8% and France with 0.9%.
Meanwhile, regarding December inflation, the largest price increase of 7.6% is observed in the “Entertainment and culture” group, followed by the “Miscellaneous goods and services” groups with 2.6%, “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” with 2.5%, “Furniture, household equipment and maintenance” with 2.3%, “Educational services” and “Hotels, cafes and restaurants” with 2.2% each, “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” with 2.1%, “Rent, water, fuel and energy” with 1.4%, “Health” with 1.1%, “Clothing and footwear” with 0.9% and “Communication” with 0.8%. On the other hand, prices in the “Transport” group decreased by 0.8%.
